Kauai/Maui 2010

I found it quite difficult to narrow down the pictures from our Hawaii trip this August because of how absolutely beautiful it is. Brady and I went to Kauai for one week and Maui for one week by ourselves, leaving the girls with Grammy and Papa. Knowing and hearing that the girls were doing well and in great hands, we were able to relax and truly be refreshed/rejuvenated. This was the first real vacation we have had since before my pregnancy. Since we had visited both islands before, we did not feel the need to see every thing or be busy being a tourist. We went to some favorite locations and spent a lot of time on the beaches.

In Kauai, we hiked the Kalalau Trail. We had missed this opportunity on our last trip. The hike is right along the coast taking you to the edge of the Napali Coast. The entire way to Hanakapiai Beach was view after beautiful view. We then hiked inland from that beach to Hanakapiai Falls (120 ft cascade) which was breathtaking...for me literally when we swam in the ice-cold natural lake beneath the waterfall. We were then cooled off and refreshed for the hike back. I can't believe that we didn't do this hike on our first trip here..it was the highlight for me this time. Otherwise, beaches and snorkeling, Bubba's burgers, our resort, were the mainstay.....truly a place to relax!!

We then went to Maui which is where we spent our honeymoon. It was fun to reminisce, especially since we celebrated our anniversary while we were there (the annual anniversary kissing picture above). We stayed at the Westin Villas on Ka'anapali Beach which was fabulous!! We walked out from the resort onto an expansive beach with beautiful views, great snorkeling and close to fun shopping and restaurants. We couldn't ask for more than that! We ate at some of our favorite restaurants, including Hula Grill, Kimo's, Duke's and Bubba Gump's. We were able to go to the Old Lahaina Luau which was sold out on our honeymoon..it was great!!

We truly had a relaxing experience....and for those of you that know Brady well, :), we didn't have any trips on the water! We look forward to enjoying Hawaii with the girls when they get old enough to enjoy and appreciate it. Of course this will make the trip much more expensive!
